Like last year, the 47th annual American Film Market (AFM) runs for six days, from Tuesday, November 10, to Sunday, November 15, 2026. For the second consecutive year, the event will be held at the Century Plaza Hotel in the Century City area of Los Angeles.

This year marks the debut of Jackie Brenneman as President and CEO of the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), the L.A.-based organizer of the AFM. She succeeds Jean Prewitt, who stepped down at the end of January 2026 after leading the organization for 25 years. Brenneman joined IFTA following nearly a decade at the National Association of Theatre Owners (now known as Cinema United), where she rose to Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Last year’s return to Los Angeles and the Century City venue energized attendees, drawing an estimated 6,132 participants. While total exhibitor figures for this year are not yet available, 272 distribution companies are already registered as exhibitors (down from last year when the event featured 285 registered companies from 35 countries), led by the U.S. (with 135 companies), followed by the U.K. (with 25), Italy (with 16), and France (with 12), with additional representation from countries like Luxembourg and Romania (many of which are grouped under Creative Romanian FilmMakers).

As for buyers, last year’s event drew 500 companies from 61 countries, which was consistent with 2024, when the AFM moved to Las Vegas from its usual Santa Monica. Additionally, this year’s event features an expanded conference line-up, offering 45 sessions this year compared to 35 in 2025.

Session highlights this year include “The New Studio System” on November 10 and “What Makes Financiers, Buyers & Talent Say Yes?” on November 12.
