Factual distributor Off the Fence has partnered with Hearst to pre-buy and co-produce Wrecks And Riches.

The new series, which completed principal photography for the first two seasons, is an original concept from Colby Gaines, founder of Austin-based indie Back Roads Entertainment. Gaines is the co-creator of Pawn Stars, one of U.S. cable’s longest running shows.

In each episode of Wrecks and Riches, an expert team explores an untouched area of the Bahamas that has come to be known as the “shipwreck graveyard.”  The challenge is to explore and uncover these wrecks in one of the most dangerous reefs in the world under constant surge.

Operating from the expedition vessel Guardian, the team begins by investigating a wreck believed to be the Maréchal de Mouchy, an 18th-century French vessel lost in 1786.

Across the season, the investigation unfolds through challenging dives, archaeological detective work and encounters with island residents whose knowledge could help unlock the reef’s secrets.  Life aboard the Guardian brings its own pressures. Conflicting personalities, demanding conditions and the challenges of working at sea test the crew’s ability to function as a team.
