ITV has acquired The Galway Bay Murders, a new six-part crime thriller starring Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager, Orange Is the New Black) and Colm Meaney (The Commitments, Gangs of London), to air on ITV1 and stream on ITVX.
From Two Cities Television, the new series is set on Ireland’s rugged west coast, where a shocking murder draws a former New York detective into a dangerous investigation. NYPD detective Nora Savage (Kate Mulgrew) arrives in Ireland hoping to escape a traumatic past and find a quieter life. However, her plans are shattered when the body of a young woman is discovered in a bog.
The Galway Bay Murders is created and written by Eithne Verling, a former archaeologist and museum curator whose personal connection to the region informs the drama’s distinctive storytelling.
Commissioned by Irish broadcaster RTÉ, The Galway Bay Murders is made in association with and distributed internationally by ITV Studios.
