NFL stands for the National Football League, the organization that oversees a sport called “football” in the United States. Although the game is played primarily with the hands and has some similarities to rugby, the NFL generates about $10 billion a year from television rights.
Games broadcast on network television are free to viewers: CBS and FOX air Sunday afternoon games, while NBC broadcasts Sunday Night Football. Subscription cable television carries Monday Night Football on ESPN, while NFL Network broadcasts international games in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, and Spain, but not in Canada.
Streaming, however, is more expensive. Paramount+ costs $9 per month, Peacock costs $13 per month, and ESPN+ and NFL+ with FOX One cost $40 per month. Amazon Prime costs $9 per month, while Netflix costs $9 per month.
