The U.K.’s BBC Children’s and Education and Australia’s ABC Children and Family have launched Shared Horizons, a new partnership aimed at creating opportunities for U.K. and Australian producers to co-develop and co-produce children’s content for global audiences.
The initiative builds on the broadcasters’ longstanding relationship and shared commitment to the public-service role of children’s programming. It will connect independent producers and creators from both countries, with the BBC and ABC jointly identifying, developing and producing projects with international potential.
Shared Horizons will focus on scripted live-action drama and animation for preschoolers, children aged 5–8 and audiences up to age 10. Projects will be developed for both linear broadcast and streaming platforms, with an emphasis on premium, creator-driven concepts that can succeed in both the U.K. and Australian markets.
The partnership is also intended to create a pathway for creative talent in both countries while strengthening the production sectors’ ability to develop original programming for young audiences worldwide.
