The Africa Channel is premiering one-hour special How Sweet the Sound and magazine series Wild Africa on September 1, 2026.

How Sweet the Sound celebrates the musical traditions and legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) leading into September’s National HBCU Week observance. The program features a competition among three gospel choirs: Florida A&M University Gospel Choir, New Direction Gospel Choir (Tennessee), and Virginia State University Gospel Chorale. Hosted by Donald Lawrence, the special also includes performances from gospel artists Jonathan McReynolds and Tasha Cobbs Leonard.

Wild Africa is a Pan-African wildlife magazine series hosted by three presenters from across the continent: freediver and ocean advocate Zandile Ndhlovu, Zimbabwean broadcaster Rumbi Takawira, and Nigerian veterinarian and TAC host Dr. Mark Ofua.

The series takes viewers into the field with celebrity guests, exploring Africa’s iconic wildlife while spotlighting the individuals and organizations working to protect and preserve these remarkable species.

Both series will air on The Africa Channel and will be available to stream on Demand Africa at a later date.
