On April 21, Tetsu Uemura, executive principal of Tohokushinsha Film Corporation and son of its late founder Banjiro, passed away at the age of 58.
The company sent industry members an informal message: On behalf of the Uemura family and TFC, it is with great sorrow that I inform you of the untimely passing of our company’s executive principal, Tetsu Uemura, who died at the age of 58 on April 21, 2020. The funeral service will be conducted by our immediate family members.
While we are shocked and filled with grief, we know that he would want us to celebrate his life instead of mourning his death. He was a friend to everyone whom he met. We all loved him so much in life, so let us not forget him after death.

This is very sad. He was a great fellow that was full of passion for his industry, his family and the business. He will be missed.
Tetsu was one of the most respectful men
I ever knew. He always made a point to visit my late husband when he came to the states
and continued to visit his gravesite thereafter. I will always remember his kindness . My deepest sympathy to his family.?
My wife, Noelene, & I were Tetsu’s guardians from age 12 while he attended Trinity Grammar School in Sydney, Australia. He became our “second son” as he developed through his teens, into a fine young man & competent business operator. Tetsu never forgot his time spent, & friends made in Australia during the 6 years at High school. He never once missed visiting us whenever in Australia, the last time being January of this year.
A credit to his parents, a thorough gentleman respected internationally, who was taken far too young…he will be sadly missed & never forgotten.
I just heard of Tetsu and am saddened to hear of his passing. He, and Banjiro, were always kind, generous gentlemen and he will sorely missed!
It’s sad to hear the news about Tetsu and his father. My father used to work with them. I met them when Banjiro was head of his company and Tetsu was already working for his father. They were very nice friends and my family had a lot of respect for them. They were also great people to be in business with. They will be missed.
They both will be missed. His father got me a job at TFC the film consortium years ago and was great inspiration to me. Tetsun I remember him when he got his first car in Hollywood it was a Black Sabb. I believe his dad made him return it. My mother Anne Perez was Banjiro decorator in Los Angeles but she decorated some offices at his home in Beverly Hills California.
