Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV) signed the format rights to drama series Mother to CJ E&M to remake the series in Korea. The series follows an elementary school teacher who, after learning of a young girl experiencing abuse, runs away and they journey as mother and child. The Korean adaptation is scheduled to debut in January 2018 on tvN, CJ E&M’s entertainment channel. This deal marks the first time in almost five years that a Nippon TV title will be remade for Korea.
