The European Audiovisual Observatory released a new report on the effect of European law on the VoD film market. The report indicates a decline in the European cinema market, alongside a decrease in physical and video sales; however, subscription on demand and similar services have tripled in sales. The report outlines the legal framework that relate to VoD services, looking at the Television without Frontiers Directive of 1989 (TVWFD) and the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD), followed by a country-by-country analysis for 28 European countries.  The report concludes that, with the AVMDSD, VoD services are under more pressure to showcase European film and video work.
