Vice will produce new original sports series to broadcast exclusively on ESPN’s TV digital and mobile outlets, as part of a new deal between the companies. The pact will also see episodes of Vice sports series such as The Clubhouse and Vice World of Sports on ESPN, and docs from ESPN’s 30 for 30 airing on Viceland, Vice’s new cable network that is co-owned by A+E Network. In addition to the new original series, Vice and ESPN will develop animated shorts. This deal follow’s Disney’s recent $400 million investment in Shane Smith’s burgeoning media giant, making Disney the largest outside investor in Vice. ESPN and A+E are both co-owned by Disney.
