TIFF’s inaugural market, launched with an investment from the Government of Canada and supported by Telefilm Canada, closed its doors yesterday (September 10-16, 2026).
Organizers reported a total of 7,010 delegates registered for the market, with attendees hailing from 92 countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Spain, the U.K. and the U.S.
The exhibition floor brought together 238 exhibitors from Africa, Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Korea, Japan, Thailand, among others.
Meeting requests and 196 market screenings drew 1,473 registered buyers to the Metro Toronto Convention Center, The InterContinental Hotel and The Ritz-Carlton Toronto, a 19 percent increase from the 1,237 buyers attending the informal version of the event held last year. The U.S. represented 40 percent of the buying contingent, with Canada, Germany, France and the U.K. rounding out the top five.
A total of 15,902 delegates and public ticket holders attended 84 Summit sessions across the Dialogues, Visionaries, and Perspectives’ streams, supported by Major Supporters Ontario Creates and Telefilm Canada.
