Netflix has acquired 2.6 Seconds: Death in the Outback from All3Media International in advance of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (September 10-20, 2026).

The four-part Australian documentary series is the only documentary among the 10 series selected globally for TIFF’s Primetime program.

The series examines the events and far-reaching repercussions of the two fatal shots fired in 2.6 seconds that ended the life of 19-year-old Kumanjayi Walker, and forced a national reckoning with justice, policing and race in Australia.

2.6 Seconds is a co-commission between SBS and NITV, produced by Blackfella Films in association with PAW Media with a major production investment from Screen Australia’s First Nations Department in association with SBS.

Produced in association with All3Media International, part of Banijay Entertainment, the series is financed with support from Screen NSW.

The series will premiere on Netflix in early 2027.
