Jimmy Kimmel, the late night host on ABC, the Disney-owned U.S. TV network, has been indefinitely suspended after he made some remarks about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. As a consequence, ABC has “pre-empted indefinitely” his show Jimmy Kimmel Live, starting Wednesday night, with no return date yet announced.
Kimmel’s comments were criticized by Brendan Carr, the chairman of the FCC, the U.S. Communications authority, and by some ABC-TV affiliates, including station groups Nexstar and Sinclair.
The 57-year-old Kimmel has been hosting his late night show since 2003.
