Tele München Group (TMG) is co-producing the series adaptation of Umberto Eco’s best-selling novel, The Name of the Rose, along with 11 Marzo and Palomar, in association with RAI Fiction. The series follows the Franciscan monk William of Baskerville and his apprentice Adso of Melk as they witness a series of murders in 1327 Italy. The actors include John Turturro as Baskerville and Rupert Everett as the inquisitor Bernardo Gui. TMG acquired the worldwide distribution rights, excluding Italy.
