RTÉ partnered with the Irish Film Board to create a funding initiative for Irish comedy series. After the success of Can’t Cope Won’t Cope and Bridget & Eamon, which the BBC and UK TV have also acquired, respectively, RTÉ is placing a call for proposals. Projects should be half-hour scripted comedies that have prospects for international distribution. The first phase of the initiative is the selection of 10 projects for development, followed by another round to cut the selections down to four to continue on the pilot phase, and then one of the pilots will proceed to a full series. The closing date for proposals is November 29, 2017.
