The Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), to be held from September 28-October 13, 2017, unveiled its first wave of programming, the Sea to Sky programming stream, to spotlight creativity from British Columbia. A few of the films showing will already have premiered at the Toronto International Film festival, including Wayne Wapeemukwa’s Luk’Luk’l, Kathleen Hepburn’s Never Steady, Never Still, and Kyle Rideout’s Public Schooled. The other films included in the BC spotlight are Jason James’ Entanglement, Scooter Corkle’s Hollow in the Land, Cody Brown’s Gregoire, Peter Ricq’s Dead Shack, Ana Valine’s Once There Was a Winter, Melanie Wood’s Shut Up and Say Something, Boris Ivanov’s On Putin’s Blacklist, LaTiesha Ti’si’tla Fazakas and Natalie Bolla’s Meet Beau Dick: Maker of Monsters, and Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers’ c’əsnaʔəm: the city before the city.
