The FAME Shorts Film Festival Awards took place on September 3, 2025, in Cape Town, South Africa.
The awards ceremony honored winners from a program of 31 short films across genres.
The award for best screenplay went to director Isaac Kasende for Belinda. The best director award honored Ari Kruger for King George. Best actor went to Brent Palmer, who stars in King George, while best actress went to Muadi Ilung, who stars in Belinda.
Best supporting actor went to Tiago Marques who stars in Punter, best supporting actress went to Annie Robinson Grealy who also stars in Belinda.
Additional honors include: Abbesi Akhamie’s The Incredible Sensational Fiancée of Sèyí Àjàyí for best short film, Cleveland Hopp’s Onthou vi Fredo? for best documentary, Miselwa “Missy” Ngamlana’s Blind Spots for best LGBTQI+ film, and Bassma Farah Nancy’s V’s Secret for best student film.
The official FAME Shorts Film Festival runs from September 4-6, 2025, at The Labia Cinema, as part of FAME Week Africa.
