Three days ago, the Argentine Federal Police arrested (and subsequently released) Alejo Warles, founder of Al Angulo TV, the illegal streaming platform that became very popular in Latin America among football (soccer) fans.
The San Isidro Police, a precinct north of Buenos Aires, raided Warles’ (known online as “Shishi”) home in Paraná, a town in Entre Rios Province, where it found a fully equipped studio used to operate the piracy platform.
Al Angulo TV streamed mostly national and international football matches and had more than 100,000 users.
The police raid was instigated by the U.K.- and Belgium-based Alliance Against Audiovisual Piracy, with technical support from LaLiga, Spain’s top football division.
