Renowned TV programmer Alfredo Odorisio died on September 23, 2020, in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the age of 86, due to the coronavirus.

Odorisio was a well-known figure in the artistic, film and television production communities. In the political world, Odorisio will be remembered for his participation in the hours prior to the election of Raúl Alfonsín as President of Argentina. On October 30, 1983, the election day, Alfonsín spent the night in Odorisio’s home in the Buenos Aires. “The night of the elections he went to sleep as a candidate and woke up as president,” Odorisio recalled years later.

In the 1960s, Odorisio was a key figure in local television programming and international distribution. Later he became associate producer of movies like: Wildcards, Ashes of Paradise, Shared Secrets, Thesis on a Homicide, The Reconstruction, The Mirror of the Others, and The King of Eleven.

He also became the head of programming at América when the TV channel was managed by Eduardo Eurnekian. When Eurnekian left América and Carlos Ávila’s family took his place, Odorisio kept his responsibilities as a programmer.
