FilmRise acquired the worldwide rights to Ani Simon-Kennedy’s feature, The Short History of the Long Road.
Starring American singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter, the coming-of-age story follows Nola, who grew up living out of a van with her father. When tragedy strikes, she realizes that the life of an outsider may not be her only option, and she attempts to integrate herself in a society she’s never known.
The film’s producers include Darren Dean, Bettina Kadoorie, Kishori Rajan, Eddie Rubin, Ani Simon-Kennedy, Dominique Telson, and Cailin Yatsko, in association with Astute Films, CANY, Eggplant Picture & Sound, Hua Wen Movie Group, Lunacy Productions, Orient Fair, Wanderlustfull Films, and Zed Films.
Danny Fisher, CEO of FilmRise, said, “We are excited and honored to release Ani’s unique off the grid/coming-of-age narrative feature. Unique award-winning films like The Short History of the Long Road are a welcome addition to our growing indie film slate produced and directed by a new generation of exceptional filmmakers.”
