Channel 4 commissioned The Light (working title), the third part of Jack Thorne’s trilogy of dramas for Channel 4.

Following Kiri and National Treasure, the four-part drama will focus on the repercussions of a catastrophic disaster in a small Welsh town, looking at a network of issues such as politics, business, and disability. The Forge, in association with Hulu, will produce The Light, while all3media International will handle global sales. The series will air in 2019.

Beth Willis, head of drama at Channel 4, remarked, “We are delighted to be working once more with the immensely talented Jack Thorne. Jack has a singular ability to explore some of the most complex and challenging topics facing modern Britain today with warmth and empathy, and also with sharp insight and fearless scrutiny.”
