As part of a scripted comedy initiative, RTÉ and the Irish Film Board announced four comedy projects that will move on to the pilot stage.
The selected comedy projects include Headcases from Treasure Entertainment, DAD from Blueink, Handy from Underground Films, and The South Westerlies from Deadpan Pictures. The four pilots will broadcast on RTÉ Television. After the pilots premiere, one will be chosen to become a six-part series.
Justin Healy (pictured), executive producer for RTÉ Comedy, remarked, “This scheme is specifically aimed at developing Irish scripted comedy that can travel to overseas audiences, building on recent partnerships in that area with UKTV, BBC and Netflix among others.”
