At the DIG Awards 2018, which took place on June 2, 2018, in Riccione, Italy, TRT World‘s documentary series Off the Grid received the DIG Investigative Medium Award for its episode titled “Silent Death on a Syrian Journey.”
The episode explored the illegal organ-trafficking trade in the Middle East. Off the Grid tells human stories from around the world and explains those stories in relation to global events. The DIG Award is the second award that TRT World has received for its docu-series.
In the past, Off the Grid received the ASBU Outstanding Documentary Production Award for the episode “Jarablus Rising From its Ashes.”
