The 71st edition of the Cannes Film Festival came to a close this past weekend.

The Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda received the festival’s top honor, the Palme d’Or, for his film Manbiki Kazoku (Shoplifters). Spike Lee’s film Blackkklansman was awarded the Grand Prix. The Jury Prize went to Capharnaüm, directed by Nadine Labaki. The winners for Best Actor and Best Actress were Marcello Fonte in Dogman and Samal Yeslyamova in Ayka. The Best Director Prize went to Pawel Pawlikowski for Zimna Wojna (Cold War).
