The Los Angeles Italia – Film, Fashion, and Art festival awarded Mel Gibson with ‘Director of the Year for the film Hacksaw Ridge. Gibson will accept the award at the festival’s opening night ceremonies on February 19, 2017. The festival will be held at the Chinese Six Theatre, and will run until February 25. Gibson’s film Hacksaw Ridge is a story about an American World War II hero who managed to save 75 lives in the Battle of Okinawa.
