Channel 5 has commissioned Paris-based independent TV production company Pernel Media to produce a documentary format exploring the emotional impact of immigration law on family life. The documentary is the first U.K. broadcast commission for Pernel Media and Channel 5’s first from a French indie. Immigration – Tearing my Family Apart (working title) documents the forced separations of four families divided by changes in U.K. immigration rulings and the emotional impact they experience while struggling to become reunited and comply with the new laws.
