The 2016 International Emmy for News was presented last night to Sky News Migration Crisis (United Kingdom). The Emmy for current affairs was presented to Dispatches–Escape from Isis. (United Kingdom). The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (in conjunction with the U.S. News Emmys) presented the International Emmys during a ceremony that took place at Lincoln Center in New York. Sky News Migration Crisis covers the perilous journey of a group of migrants from Turkey to Greece, focusing on the Hungary-Serbia border as refugees and riot police clash. Dispatches-Escape from Isis, produced by ITN Productions/ Ronachan Films / Evan Williams Productions / Mediadante, won the Current Affairs category. This special exposed the brutal treatment of the estimated four million women living under the Islamic State and shows an underground network trying to save women and children held as slaves by ISIS. The winners of the other categories will be announced at 44th International Emmy Awards Gala, at the Hilton Hotel in New York City, on Monday, November 21.
