U.K.-based independent producer Red Planet Pictures, one of the UK’s most innovative and successful independent producers has chosen a winner of the company’s annual writing competition. Copywriter Tom Nash’s script Percentages was picked from a thousand entries. His dark drama explores the world of young sports stars and their ruthless, business-minded agents. Nash will receive financial backing to develop his script, and will work with a development producer from Red Planet. The contest, now in its eighth year, has uncovered hidden talent. Previous finalist Robert Thorogood created the BBC One series Death in Paradise, now starring Kris Marshall and produced by Red Planet Pictures, which returns to BBC One for a sixth series next year.
