A+E Networks has unveiled Lifetime’s Broad Focus initiative in partnership with Women in Film & TV UK (WFTV U.K.) The initiative kicks off with a short film competition to promote the work of women behind the camera. Lifetime Shorts Competition is part of A+E Networks’ global project, Broad Focus, which aims to find, develop and mentor future talent with a focus on women. The inaugural competition is open to all U.K.-based female filmmakers (directors, writers, producers) who have created original content no longer than five minutes. The closing date for entries is October 16, 2016. All entries will be judged by a panel of experts from across the film and TV industries, including award-winning film-maker Gurinder Chadha; actress and TV presenter Michelle Collins; WFTV Chair and producer Cassandra Sigsgaard; writer and director Destiny Ekaragha and Heather Jones of A+E Networks U.K.
