Canal 22 Internacional’s “Environment Week” is scheduled to coincide with two earth-awareness days. The annual World Environment Day, held on June 5, encourages people to become active supporters of sustainable living. World Oceans Day, takes place on June 8, with this year’s theme “Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet” to raise awareness and stop plastic pollution. The programming includes Encrucjadas en los Oceanons, a special that highlights the plight of the fish population in the Gulf of Panama and Costa Rica, Bosque de coniferas, which explores an area home to exotic animals that is threatened by erosion, forest fires, deforestation, soil extraction and uncontrolled growth of cities, among other specials that focus ecosystems across the world.
