Italy’s Mediaset has sold event miniseries Call Me Francis to Netflix. The four-part series, which portrays Jorge Maria Bergoglio’s life from Jesuit priest to Pope, will be released in 40 territories. Mediaset has kept European rights to the series, which begins during Bergoglio’s early years, before he became a priest. Argentinian actor Rodrigo De la Serna stars in the title role for most of the series, and Chilean actor Sergio Hernandez plays the Pope in his later years. The series will air in Italy on Canale 5 on December 8, Bergoglio’s 80th birthday.
