SPORTELMonaco, a business convention for the sports marketing and media industry, will take place this year from October 24-27 in Monaco. The convention gathers a number sports federations, event organizations, producers, distributors and rights owners, sponsorship agents and technology providers and new media entities to discuss the future of sports media. This year’s SPORTEL Awards Ceremony, organized under the presidency of Prince Albert II and under the International Olympic Committee is scheduled on October 25. The ceremony recognizes the best international sports videos and illustrated books. Rugby icon Dan Carter will receive this year’s Autobiography Prize for his book Dan Carter, The Autobiography Of An All Blacks Legend, published by Marabout. The New Zealand player is the highest scorer in rugby history, and is considered to be the best fly-half in the history of the game.
