Yes, after a two-year run, MIP London is closing. As early as July 2026, VideoAge was taking bets on whether MIP London’s third edition would take place next year. Today, September 23, 2026, came the official answer: “MIP London will not take place in 2027.”
Following its initial two-year run, RX (Reed Exhibitions) will instead introduce the new MIP Talks format alongside The London Book Fair, reported to be the world’s largest spring book trade and publishing event, which will take place at ExCeL London from March 16-18, 2027.
The inaugural MIP Talks — set to be staged March 16-17, at the same ExCeL venue in East London, near Prince Regent Station — will be built around the editorial theme: “From IP to Fandom, and Fandom to Global Business.”
Lucy Smith, director of the Entertainment Division, RX France, said: “The boundaries of entertainment have all but disappeared. IP can come from anywhere, audiences don’t think in sectors and an idea can travel further and faster than ever before. MIP has always been about understanding where the entertainment business is going next. MIP Talks at The London Book Fair takes that curiosity further bringing together the people shaping what breaks through, how fandom is built and where new global businesses are emerging.”
