For the first time ever at MIP-TV , the Hollywood studios will offer a sneak peek at their new shows ahead of this year’s L.A. Screenings, with a Pre-L.A. Screenings Showcase in Cannes.
Last Thursday, just after a midday press conference in Paris announcing the new feature, Laurine Garaude, Director, TV Division, at Reed MIDEM, placed an early call to VideoAge in New York City to anticipate the news, knowing how the publication had long been lobbying MIP-TV organization to leverage the success of the L.A. event to revitalize the Cannes Market.
Disney Media Distribution and Lionsgate will join as first presenting partners of the inaugural MIPDrama Pre-L.A. Screenings Showcase on Tuesday, April 4 from 8:45-10:00 a.m. in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
In its day three Daily at MIP-TV, VideoAge will focus on the L.A. Screenings with a preview section.
Also at MIP-TV this year, the spotlight on Latin America will take place on Monday April 3 and will include a first-look at new dramas from Telefe, Azteca, Caracol, Telemundo, RCN and Record TV, among others.
Together, these screening blocks offer more than 1,700 drama buyers attending MIP-TV the opportunity to prepare their spring acquisition slates ahead of the L.A. Screenings.
The LATAM event in Cannes will be covered in VideoAge’s Day three Daily at MIP-TV, which traditionally focuses on LATAM, and this year will spotlight new shows from Comarex, Record TV and Telemundo, among others.
