Whistler Film Festival will bring on John Madden as the guest of honor at its Variety Contender Conversation on December 1. Madden will receive WFF’s Maverick Award for Directing, which shines a light on a master in the industry. Known for directing Shakespeare In Love (1998), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, he has gained more recent recognition for directing The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011) and its sequel The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2015). Madden is attending the festival with the Canadian premiere of Miss Sloane. The Festival will be held November 30-December 4.
